Hi - we are the Camerons.

Dugald, Kristie, Mackenzie, James and Charlie….oh and don’t forget our little loyal companion Diesel the pug.  We are the crazy creatives behind Over the Top Events.

Our marriage literally began in the event industry.  Kristie was employed as the Visitor Centre Supervisor and Events Co-Ordinator at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, and Dugald was the supervisor of the Ground Crew but had spent his whole childhood helping his parents around the circuit.  We were a workaholic match made in heaven from the start.

Life with three boisterous boys, an old homestead on Phillip Island and an agricultural contracting business was already busy enough.  We often described our home as a funny farm in which there was certainly never a dull moment.  As the boys were growing up we loved to invite people to our beautiful home and throw crazy over the top birthday parties, Melbourne Cup Parties and New Year’s Eve festivals.  We loved creating events that wow’d our friends on arrival and made them feel so comfortable that they never wanted to leave.  It wasn’t out of the ordinary for a third birthday party to wind up at midnight.  One year after a huge Great Gatsby Themed New Years Eve party it was suggested by a friend that we should make a living out of what we do.  Shortly after the opportunity presented itself to purchase an established marquee business in Cowes, named Island Marquees, and well let’s just say the rest is ancient history.

We thought the business would be a nice little side hustle, but Kristie’s passion, creativity and drive for perfection turned the business into a thriving enterprise.  We have an incredible crew of hard working, talented staff that help us move equipment all throughout the region.  We sprinkle our magic to homes and venues far and wide, creating jaw dropping events that are talked about for months and years after their completion.  We all get swept up in the plans and love seeing the finished product, even the crew can’t resist the temptation to crack a beer when they stand back and see the end result (the photo’s really don’t do it justice).

If you are planning an event and would like to make it that little bit extra crazy wonderful, our family will be there to guide you and make your dreams come to reality.  Our kids love spending Friday nights travelling to new places and setting up furniture in exchange for meat lovers pizza and Diesel is quite partial to a little bowl of treats.
